Futsal and Tennis

Today we went down to the Marist club futsal and tennis courts to have a little feel of how to play the real game in futsal since we have been taught it by our instructor Martin. I captained the black team we had a draw with our two games it was kind of like a round robin. We then got to play a bit of tennis I thought this was fun since I haven't really played this sport properly. I thought it was going to be hard but it wasn't all you had to do was to keep your eye on the ball and say bounce hit. I would like to thank Martin and Neville for taking this program.

Futsal Kiwisport

Today our new kiwisport is futsal. This sport is basically a smaller version of Football because it is half the size of a normal football and has 20 minute halves. The rules are also different when the ball is out the ball is played as a throw in football but in Futsal the ball is played with a kick. It also has 5 players per team and has a smaller field.  We played a few games just to get us warmed up then we got to practice on our dribbling with the ball. I learnt how to control the ball with 4 parts of my foot the inside of your foot, the outside of your foot, the front of the your're foot and etc.

Hockey

In hockey today we got to learn a few of the basics and some warm up games just to get a clear idea what was going on.  We first started with a warm up game we played Octopus. We then played a nice game which could help us control and be steady with the ball.  So it was exactly the same as traffic lights but with a hockey stick and a hockey ball. Red light was to stop,  orange light was to slow down a move the ball from side to side , green light was to go fast, silver was to go really fast and Purple was to go backwards but watching where you were going. I enjoyed this activity the most because it helped me more with a skill. Then next game was to juggle the ball with the hockey stick this would help maintain our focus on the ball.  The most I got in a row without dropping it was 12 I thought  I did pretty good considering I was really bad at Hockey.  We then ended off with a nice game which had a twist. You were split into groups then the coach would yell out a number then , say if she calls out 2 , 2 people from each group would run up and   try to score. I enjoyed this lesson because it helped me more of maintaining and controlling the ball.
